In a bid to help the farmers and traders in selling their produce, goods and livestocks, the Tangla town got a new weekly cattle market.

The Territorial Level Coordination Committee (TLCC) chairman of BTC’s Khalingduar constituency, Dwithun Boro, inaugurated a new cattle market at Nonaipara area of Tangla town on the bank of river Nonai in Udalguri district on Thursday.

The new market, which has been named  as Mainao Weekly Cattle Market, has fulfilled the long pending demand of the people and traders for a cattle market in Tangla.

Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Boro lauded the initiative of the Mainao Weekly Cattle Market Committee to open up a new market and said that it would go long way in order to to boost the economic condition of the people through trade and commerce.

Talking to this correspondent, president of the Bazaar committee, Amal Swargiary said, “We have sanctioned a plot of 14 bighas for the new market. We have received good number of sellers and buyers on the first day of inception.”

He also said, “It will be a bi-weekly market functioning on Thursday and Sunday. While the cattle trade will be facilitated only on Thursdays.”

Others who were also present in the inaugural function were Bodoland Students’ Union, Bhergaon District president Babul Daimari; All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU), Tangla unit representatives among others.
