Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) will go ahead with its proposed mass rally against holding of state election at Naga Solidarity Park Kohima on January 23 to exert pressure on the union government to hammer out a solution to the Naga issue before the Assembly election on February 27.

Maintaining that the government of India has been adopting delay tactics to resolve the protracted Naga political problem which has further created confusion among the people, NPF president Kesosul Christopher Ltu said the rally will be organised to ask the Centre to seal the final agreement with the Naga groups before the elections adding that solution is more important than the election.

He said NSF has been sharing and venting out its views on Naga political issue alongside other Naga organisations in various platforms, including consultative meetings on Indo-Naga talks and had an extensive deliberation on how to facilitate the peace process. The federation has also interacted with the Centre’s interlocutor RN Ravi several times.

He said memoranda and presentations were submitted to the government of India whereas there has been sign of delay tactics which has confused the people for the more than 20 years of negotiation.

The NSF president asked the Naga people to participate in the rally so that solution could be found out adding that Naga solution is not for an individual or group but for whole Naga society and for the future Naga generations.

“The Federation representing the aspirations and sentiments of the young Naga generation is hereby once again compelled to voice out its utmost concern as the ongoing peace process vis-a-vis political dialogue gets unduly delayed,” Christopher added.
