In its continuous crusade against illicit liquor in Sivasagar district of eastern Assam, a raid was conducted on Saturday by a team led by Ashutosh Baruah, inspector of Excise, Nazira at places like Santak tea estate, Bihubor tea estate, Aathpuria, Laxmijan tea estate in the district.

The seized liquor included F/ Wash 2,200 Ltrs, D/A 22 sets,IDL 115 Ltrs, Pachowai 50 Ltrs.
The officials also destroyed the seized liquor at the very spot.

A case has been registered under section 53 (1)a ,d and 53 (2)c of the Assam Excise Act 2018.
The morning raid was conducted as a joint operation with Bihubor police station Armed Forces and the evening raid was carried out under Galaky police station at Laxmijan tea estate.
The report of the seizure has already been sent to the government online.
The Excise department in Sivasagar district has stepped up vigil against spurious country liqour after the hooch tragedy in Golaghat and Jorhat districts have claimed more than a 100 lives during last three days.
