One NSCN militant was killed by security forces near Laptang Village in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday morning.

The operation was carried out by Khonsa battalion following inputs of extortion drive by the militant outfit in the village.

The security forces during search of the area noticed two to three militants trying to flee the spot.

According to the Army, the militants opened fire at them when challenged by the security forces. In the retaliatory fire one militant was killed while other militants managed to escape under the cover of dense foliage.

During search operation, the security forces found the hardcore cadre who had succumbed to bullet injuries, a HK 33 automatic rifle, large quantities of ammunition and other incriminating evidences.

The killed militant is yet to be identified.
