Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has finally broken his silence on the alleged gang-rape charge by a woman from West Siang district against him after five days.

The Chief Minister’s Office has released a statement saying they are aware of the complaint filed with the National Commission of Women (NCW). The complaint was filed against the CM of an alleged rape that happened in 2008, by one Pema Samchung Flago on February 15, 2018.

The release stated, that CM had expressed full faith on the NCW to decide on the merits of the complaint.

CM Khandu stated, “I am shocked and saddened by these false allegations against me. I have always conducted myself honorably with utmost integrity. In my view, these allegations are politically motivated and crafted by my opponents. It’s unfortunate that they have resorted to such dirty tricks thereby bringing disgrace to political life of the state. I have full faith on the authority before which this matter currently stands, will do justice. There is no doubt that truth will prevail over this malicious campaign against me.”

NCW which has refused to entertain the complainant’s appeal is a big blow to malicious attempts by elements bent on maligning the image of a person through false allegations. Every sensible person should condemn such dirty politics, added the release.

The entire sequence of events is in public domain for scrutiny and the CMO believes that citizens of Arunachal Pradesh can now see through the conspiracy hatched against the CM who has grown in popularity for his strict decisions to root out corruption.
