The Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT) has undertaken a massive organizational initiative and as part of it, the IPFT is going to organize a youth rally at Khumulung, the head quarter of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council, on September 25.

This is an attempt to regain its lost ground in the hills by the alliance party in the Tripura government.
Interacting with media on Monday, Jagadish Debbarma, general secretary of the INPT said that the leaders of their youth wing will meet the Governor and submit a three point charter of demands which include introduction of National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Tripura.
INPT, once the dominant force in the hills of Tripura, suffered a major setback following a division in the party few years back and formation of the Indigenous Peoples’ Front of Tripura (IPFT) which is now a partner of the ruling coalition headed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In the last Assembly election held in February early this year, the INPT fought alone and had a disastrous outcome at the hustings.
As part of their revival bid, the INPT has taken up the NRC issue as a major plank and a delegation led by its president Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawal recently visited Delhi and submitted memorandum to the offices of the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister.
