Movement of vehicular traffic along National Highway 29 through the section near Kohima, which sank on the intervening night of July 7 and 8, began on Thursday afternoon.

Both light and heavy vehicles plied through the stretch on Thursday afternoon along the highway.

The normal movement of vehicles was opened for both light and heavy vehicles on Thursday at around 4 pm following trial run by the heavy vehicle on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

After the portion of the national highway paved in, authorities have been engaged in restoration work on a war-footing for the past 11 days.

During this period, all the heavy vehicles were diverted via Peducha-Chiesema village and light vehicle via Jotsoma bypass.
