Guwahati: A team of Assam Police nabbed four individuals for allegedly being involved in contraband drug trafficking in Golaghat on Monday.

According to police sources, the suspects were arrested in Merapani, Golaghat based on specific inputs.

A joint operation including Golaghat Police and CRPF resulted in the arrest of the four individuals.

Ainul Haque, Tafiq Ali, Abu Bakar, and Abu Bakar’s wife were apprehended for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking.

Police confiscated another 40 soap boxes containing heroin from a vehicle (AS05Q9697) linked to the suspects.

All four individuals are currently in police custody.

A police source said that they succeeded in seizing nearly 505.05 grams of suspected heroin from the suspect.

The police source further said that the apprehended individuals were involved in drug peddling but they were also suspected to be behind interstate drug trafficking.

The consignment is said to be worth over Rs 3 crore in the international grey market.

An investigation is being carried out to determine the source and destination of the suspected heroin.
