Shillong: Speculation is being made that some politicians from the INDIA bloc, including Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Congress MLAs, might switch allegiance to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after the ongoing Assembly session in Meghalaya.

However, both parties and the BJP have denied any confirmed developments.

Unverified media reports suggest four TMC and two Congress MLAs may be considering the shift.

However, some reports also claimed that one mentioned politician is a former and not a sitting MLA.

On the other hand, both the BJP and TMC state leaderships claimed they have no confirmation of sitting MLAs switching parties.

Congress party leader Ronnie V Lyngdoh categorically denied any such move from their camp, emphasizing he speaks only for sitting MLAs.

This follows earlier reports by TMC leader and former CM Mukul Sangma and other MLAs, about a possible switch to the BJP.
