The Nagaland health and family welfare department said the proportion of new weekly Covid-19 positive cases among travellers have increased from 5% to 11% in the last three weeks in the state.

In its weekly bulletin, the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) of the department said there was a ‘slight increase’ in positivity among travellers with 19 new cases last week from September 25 to October 1.

It said case detection among ‘self-tests’ or ‘random tests’ accounted for the majority of the new cases at 136 in the last week. Among the other categories, 13 were traced contacts, 7 security personnel and 5 frontline workers.

The IDSP said the state reported 180 new cases during the week between September 25 to October 1, the lowest since June this year. Among the districts, Dimapur continued to report the highest number of cases with 106 out of the 180, followed by Kohima at 38 and Mokokchung 16 while Zunheboto reported zero cases during the same period.

On the distribution of confirmed cases by age group, it said between 2020 and 2021, the proportion of cases increased by over 7000.

The weekly sample positivity rate remained below 5% for seven consecutive weeks at 2.1%.

Meanwhile, the state logged 17 fresh cases and 37 recoveries on Sunday. There was no death due to the infection in the last 24 hours.

The health and family welfare department said Kohima recorded 8 new cases, Dimapur 4 and Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Phek and Wokha one each.

Among the recoveries, Dimapur registered 17, Kohima 14, Mokokchung 3, Kiphire, Longleng and Wokha 1 each.

The total caseload in the state stands at 31,312 and the active cases at 329. So far, 651 people died of the infection while 29,314 have recovered from it. Altogether 1003 people migrated from the state.
