The Nagaland government, on Tuesday, revoked its May 5 order directing all private hospitals in the State to reserve 50 percent of the bed capacity for treatment of Covid-19 patients till further notice.

“The direction to reserve 50% of the bed capacity available with the private hospitals vide Order No.HFW-27/B-30/nCoV/2020(Pt) dated 5th May 2021 shall stand revoked till further orders,” a government notification said.

The government said the incidence of Covid-19 cases in the State has seen a decline over the last few weeks, with a similar decrease in the number of such patients requiring hospitalisation.

The matter was discussed in the state-level Covid war room. It was felt that the number of beds available in government hospitals and dedicated Covid hospitals is sufficient to meet the requirements at present for treatment of Covid patients.

Keeping this in view, the mandatory reservation of beds in the private hospitals may not be required, the notification said.
