Medical officer Dr Pangambam Bohnson Singh allegedly manhandled the staff nurse Lhingneivah Haokip on duty at the COVID-19 ward of the hospital.

The Manipur government has placed a medical officer of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal under suspension for allegedly manhandling a staff nurse of the health care facility.

Medical officer Dr Pangambam Bohnson Singh allegedly manhandled the staff nurse Lhingneivah Haokip on duty at the COVID-19 ward of the hospital.

The incident took place on Wednesday and was caught on CCTV.

Later, the video of the incident went viral on social media, following which the JNIMS authorities swung into action.

On Thursday, JNIMS director Prof Th Bhimo Singh ordered an inquiry into the incident.

Meanwhile, in a suspension order, principal secretary, health and family welfare departmnet, V Vumlunmang said that the inquiry against Dr Dr Pangambam Bohnson Singh of JNIMS is complete and he has been placed under suspension from duty with immediate effect.
