The Tripura Government has decided to install oxygen plants as per capacity in all the district hospitals of the state.
Talking with Northeast Now, Mission Director of National Health Mission (NHM) Dr Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal on Friday said” “Oxygen is the most essential aid for COVID-19 patients and for that all the district hospitals in Tripura will have oxygen plants from the end of this month.”
“An Oxygen plant of 1,050 litres per minute will be installed in Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital. It is expected that the work of installing the plant will be completed within 10 days”, he added.
The NHM Mission Director said: “In IGM Hospital, there are already 80 beds connected with an oxygen pipeline and those can be used easily for COVID patients. Henceforth, the government is expecting that the oxygen plant in IGM hospital can be functional within the last of May”.

“The oxygen plants in district hospitals of Khowai, Sepahijala and West Tripura would be installed shortly. In all those hospitals, civil works for setting up of this plant has already started. The pipeline work in the hospitals will be completed within a week”, Dr Jaiswal added.
As many as 315 COVID-19 positive cases were detected in Tripura on Friday.
These 315 new COVID-19 positive cases in Tripura were detected after conducting tests of 5183 samples.
Moreover, one more person succumbed to COVID-19 in Tripura on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Tripura Government has “strengthened the surveillance and control measures against the disease”.
Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke to Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb on Friday and took stock of the COVID-19 situation in the State.
