Sprint queen of India Hima Das wins Gold in the 200m race at the 58th National Inter State Senior Athletics Championship held in Guwahati on Wednesday night.
Her timing of 23.10 seconds helped her book a ticket to the upcoming Asian Games to be held in Indonesia.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal who was present at the opening ceremony of the championship expressed hope that Assam’s pride Hima would bring more glory to the nation with her success in future sports events. He also pinned same hope for other budding sportspersons of the state as well.
Hima Das is also the brand ambassador of the championship.
PT Usha who was at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, Sarusajai at a press meet held before the opening ceremony showered praise on Hima Das who was also present at the press meet.
She hails from Dhing of Assam’s Nagaon district, and represented India at the 21st Commonwealth Games in Goldcoast, Australia this year.
Hima made history by becoming the first Indian woman to be qualified for 400 meter race in the final of CWG.
