The BJP high command has allowed the state BJP in Meghalaya to work together with the NPP in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).
Meghalaya BJP president Ernest Mawrie said the party high command has stated that the two elected party MDCs can be part of the new Executive Committee in GHADC only if invited by the NPP, and would join the Executive Committee (EC) by putting certain conditions.
Mawrie said so far, no invitation was received from the NPP for the formation of the new Executive Committee in GHADC.
He said any decision to be taken by the party in the state has to go through the state president.

“We will put our conditions if invited by the NPP to join the EC,” he said.
Earlier, BJP MDC Bernard Marak put one condition that he should be made the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the GHADC if the BJP has to work together with the NPP to form the new Executive Committee.
Meanwhile, Bernard Marak said the BJP would move Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik on Monday afternoon to raise an objection to the formation of the new Executive Committee in GHADC by 15 members.
He said an order passed by the High Court in 2000, has clearly mentioned that the majority in GHADC for the formation of an Executive Committee should be 17 members, not 15 members.
The GHADC currently has 29 members, and the halfway is 15.
If one member is nominated by the Meghalaya Governor, the Councill will have 30 members, and the halfway mark will be 16.
The NPP-led Garo Hills Democratic Coalition (GHDC) has 15 members and staked claim to form the new Executive Committee in GHADC.
