Despite making tall promises, according to a confidential UN document, the Taliban insurgents have intensified their search for people who worked with US and NATO.
Taliban fighters have killed a relative of a journalist working for DW (Deutsche Welle), a German news channel, and seriously injured another.
The Taliban fighters were conducting a house-to-house search to locate the journalist, who now works in Germany.
Meanwhile, the DW channel management has condemned the killing of the journalist’s relative saying that there is an imminent threat to media personnel working in Afghanistan.

“Killing of a close relative of one of our editors by the Taliban is inconceivably tragic and testifies to the danger in which all our employees and their families in Afghanistan find themselves,” DW director general Peter Limbourg said.
“It is evident that the Taliban are already carrying out organized searches for journalists, both in Kabul and in the provinces. We are running out of time!”
Meanwhile, Nematullah Hemat of private television channel – Ghargasht TV is believed to have been kidnapped by the Taliban.
On the other hand, Toofan Omar, head of private radio station – Paktia Ghag Radio, was reportedly shot dead by Taliban fighters.
