Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu on Sunday asked all government employees and police personnel in the state to undergo a toxicology test.

The chief minister made this call as many government employees are reportedly hooked to drugs in Arunachal Pradesh.

The minister said that people entrusted with serving the public cannot themselves be a part of the drug menace in the state.

“A call has been made to all govt employees and police personnel of #Arunachal to get themselves tested for drugs. Those who are tasked with serving the public cannot become part of the problem. By 2022 we aim to make Arunachal a Drug-Free State,” Pema Khandu tweeted.

The Arunachal Pradesh had sought toxicology tests on government employees in eight districts badly hit by the drug abuse in the state.

It is indeed alarming that Namsai, Lohit, Dibang Valley, Upper Siang, Anjaw, Changlang, Tirap and West Kameng feature amongst the 272 worst drugs-hit districts in India.

The state government had decided to take strong action government employees found addicted to drugs or involved in drug-related activities in any manner.
