Legislative Assembly Speaker, TN Thongdok on Monday presided over the inaugural session of the two-day National Orientation workshop on ‘National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA)’ in Itanagar.

It was organized by Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly in collaboration with the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs at the Dorjee Khandu Auditorium of Legislative Assembly here.

The e-Vidhan is a Mission Mode Project under the Digital India Programme on the theme of ‘One Nation One Application.’ National e-Vidhan Application is to be implemented in all the states/union territories legislative locations.

It is a sophisticated e-governance solution, which fully automates the functioning of legislatures and significantly minimizes paper usage with online communication, which is in line with the ‘Go Green’ initiative of the Central government.

The two-day workshop would include technical sessions and group discussions which will facilitate exposure for the delegates about the positive attributes of NeVA, deliberations on issues faced by different State legislatures in implementation of e-Vidhan and finding solutions thereof.

The focus of the workshop would be to encourage the legislatures to move towards e-Vidhan platform and bring in transparency, accountability and responsiveness in their conduct of business, through the use of technology.

Addressing the delegates, Speaker Thongdok, while stressing on need of transparency in working of assembly, said that the information regarding the functioning of the Houses should be available in real time and in a format that is user friendly and increases its applicability for the member.
