Dibrugarh University’s Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Centre for Studies in Performing Arts has been declared a containment zone after two female students of the department tested positive for Covid-19.

In a notification, Dibrugarh University registrar in-charge Jiten Hazarika stated that the department will remain a containment zone with effect from Monday for a period of 7 days.

All students, teachers and employees of the department have been advised to keep themselves in home isolation for 7 days and go for the standard RT-PCR test within three days.

Meanwhile, the total number of Covid positive cases in the Dibrugarh district has touched 14,989 till Feb 21.

The total number of deaths in the district stands at 125.

The Dibrugarh University unit of the All Assam Students’ Union on Monday submitted a memorandum to the vice-chancellor in-charge, Prof RNS Yadav seeking relaxation in the admission fee for the ongoing semester.

The AASU said that students of all 33 departments and study centres of the university have been affected adversely due to the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdowns.
