Shillong Teer, a popular archery-based game, is played in Meghalaya.

The game is played from Monday to Saturday in the week.

Khasi Hills Archery Sports Association, a group of 12 archery clubs in Meghalaya, conducts the popular game.

A total of 50 archers shoot 30 arrows each daily at 3:15 pm and 20 arrows at 4:15 pm in the second round of the game.

The result of the first-round number of Shillong Teer is declared at 3:15 pm on the day while the result of the second-round number of Shillong Teer is announced at 4:15 pm.

There are several authorised Teer betting counters, which are operational in the state.

For the first round of Shillong Teer, the tickets are sold every day from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm and for the second round of the game, the tickets are sold at the counters up to 4.30 pm.

The archery session begins at Polo Ground in Shillong at 3.45 pm every day except Sunday.

As per the rules of the game, a person can win Rs 80 for every Re 1 bet on a number in the first round and Rs 60 for every Re 1 spent in the second round.

The archery-based game is simple.

One, who wants to participate in the game, has to select the last two digits of the total number of arrows that hit the target.

Whoever gets the number right is declared as the winner of Shillong Teer.

Apart from Shillong Teer, the game is also played in three different places of Meghalaya —Khanapara Teer, Jowai Teer and Ladrymbai Teer.
