Arunachal Pradesh legislators created a ruckus in the on-going Assembly session on Friday demanding speedy investigation into the death of former MLA Ngurang Pinch.

Most of the agitating MLAs also asked the government to consider handing over the case to the Central bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Pinch was found dead under mysterious condition on November 18 last year after he had gone on a rafting expedition with 21 others.

Arunachal Urban Development Minister Nabam Rebia said that the State Government should consider handing over the case to the CBI.

Apprising the House that a Special Investigating Team (SIT) of the Arunachal Pradesh Police has been investigating the case, Rebia who represents Doimukh constituency, also asked the agency to expedite the investigation.

State Education Minister Honchun Ngandam, Tourism Minister Jarkar Gamlin, Home Parliamentary Secretary Pani Taram, former Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and many other legislators while endorsing Rebia’s suggestion, urged the Pemam Khandu government to speed up the investigation so that justice is delivered to the bereaved family members.

Taking part in the discussion, Chief Minister Pema Khandu admitted that the investigation by the SIT was not in the fast track.

Khandu said that the State Government has already constituted the SIT with two SPs as investigating officers under an officer of DIG rank as per the directives of the High Court, and that the investigation will be completed within two months.

The Chief Minister also assured to provide a copy of the investigation report to Pinch’s family members.
