Meghalaya’s professional race car driver Phoebe Dale Nongrum has created history for the Northeast by finishing the third podium in the 23rd Jktyre National Racing Championship 2020.

The championship was held in Coimbatore recently.

Nongrum, who hails from Shillong, emerged as the first woman from Meghalaya to be selected in the Formula LGB 4 team.

The championship was participated by a total of 26 women car drivers.

According to a report, Phoebe for the first time joined the formula racing and set a new record for the Northeastern region.

The report quoted Phoebe as saying that it wasn’t easy for her.

She said she had been working hard and made a lot of effort.

In a Facebook post, Phoebe said recently, “2020 has been a crazy year for all of us. But apart from all the crisis, it turned out to be a good end to the Racing season for me at the 23rd Jktyre National Racing championship 2020 LGB Formula4.”

“Got my first podium in Formula Racing and set a new record for my Home Town Shillong Meghalaya and Northeast as a whole.

“It was a tough week, was leading for the ladies category on the first day but unfortunately on the second day I couldn’t finish race 1 and 3 but managed to get a 3rd Podium finish..Losing two race was a bummer hence lost the 3rd place for the Rookie championship and finished 4th instead…,” she added.
