Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju along with Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated a new SAI Training Centre at Solal Gaon in Lakhimpur.

The new SAI Training Centre (STC) was inaugurated on Saturday.

The STC will cater to athletes in the fields of weightlifting and boxing during its initial stage.

The training centre will have a hostel for athletes and a multi-sports indoor hall.

The hostel will have a capacity for 70 athletes with girls on residential basis and boys on day boarding basis.

Inaugurating the STC, Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the new STC will be of top standard.

“This SAI Training Centre in North Lakhimpur, Assam will be of high standards. The talented youth of the region will have great opportunities to train here. Assam is becoming a great sporting powerhouse under the dynamic leadership of CM Sarbananda Sonowal,” said Kiren Rijiju.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal while inaugurating the new STC said, “The state-of-the-art facility with training centre, athlete hostel and multi sports indoor hall, will go a long way in offering advanced training to athletes.”

On the occasion, the Fit India Fitness Protocol was launched by Sonowal.

The Fit India Fitness Protocols are the first standardised protocols for all age groups.

Moreover, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju also inaugurated a synthetic athletic track at North Lakhimpur College playground in Lakhimpur.
