Union home minister Amit Shah will visit Mizoram on January 9-10, an official of the state home department said.

Shah will arrive at Lengpui Airport on Saturday, where he is expected to be received by Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga and officials, the official said.

The Union home minister will visit and inspect Land Custom Station at Zokhawthar village in Champhai district along the Indo-Myanmar border, the official said.

He will leave for Delhi on Sunday.

Earlier, on December 27 last year, Union minister Shah visited Manipur where he laid the foundation stone for a slew of multipurpose projects.

He also visited Assam on December 26 and laid foundation stones for a super-speciality hospital and eleven law colleges.

In the recently-held Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gained at the cost of the Congress, both of which won a seat each but the saffron party finished second in 11 seats.
