Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik on Wednesday said he raised several issues of the state, including the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act (MRSSA), with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi.
The Governor said the matters raised by him during his meeting with Union home minister Shah would be again taken up by chief minister Conrad K Sangma in his next visit to New Delhi.
A communiqué issued by Raj Bhavan in Shillong on Wednesday evening informed about the meeting between the Governor and the Union Home Minister on Tuesday who discussed issues relevant to the state including the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act (MRSSA).
“However, it was conveyed that any major decision on any or all matters raised by the Governor will only be taken once the Union Home Minister meets and discusses with Chief Minister of Meghalaya in the Chief Minister’s next visit to New Delhi which may be facilitated shortly,” the communiqué stated.
Last week, the Governor had said he would specifically take up the issue related to the MRSSA with the Union Home Minister and other matters that may come up in the course of the discussion.
