The mortal remains of Assam’s martyred Indian Army havildar Haradhan Chandra Roy arrived in Guwahati on Sunday evening.
From the airport, the mortal remains of the Army havildar were taken to the 151 Army Base Hospital at Basistha in Guwahati.
At the wreath-laying ceremony, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal along with top-level Army and Assam Police officers paid tribute to the braveheart from Assam.
Roy, who hailed from Phutukibari-Medhipara under Sapatgram PS in Dhubri district, was among the four Army jawans killed in firing by Pakistani troops on Friday.
The firing took place along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
Indian forces also retaliated to the shelling in which around 6-7 Pakistan army soldiers, including two SSG (Special Service Group) commandos, were killed and 10-12 were injured.
While sharing some pictures of the wreath-laying ceremony, Sonowal tweeted: “Martyr @adgpi jawan Hardhan Rai showed exemplary valour while protecting our nation along the Indo-Pak border in J&K.”
“Paid tributes to the brave son of soil in Guwahati. His supreme sacrifice will always inspire us to dedicate ourselves in service of India,” he added.

Roy, who was serving as a havildar in the Regiment of Artillery, was posted in the Uri sector.
The Army havildar, who will be taken to Dhubri in an ambulance at night, will be laid to rest with complete military honours at his native village in Dhubri district on Monday.
A final wreath-laying ceremony will also be held at his village on Monday before the cremation.
