Chirang Police arrested another drug peddler and seized psychotropic substances from his possession on Tuesday.

Police foiled the drug peddler’s attempt to deliver suspected psychotropic substances.

“An operation against organised drugs trafficking was conducted today from 12.30 pm onwards by Chirang Police,” police sources said on Tuesday.

“The operation was led by Prakash Medhi, additional superintendent of police (headquarters), Chirang in the Dhaligaon town area,” police sources said.

During the operation, a drug peddler, identified as 36-year-old Ali Akbar, was arrested by the police team.

From the possession of the apprehended drug peddler, the police recovered 8 plastic containers.

From the containers, the police recovered suspected psychotropic substances.

One empty container was also recovered by the police.

Two mobile handsets, Indian currency notes worth Rs 3,340 and one motorcycle bearing registration no. AS16-G-5964 were also recovered.

“Further follow-up action is being taken,” police sources said.
