Thirteen more positive patients have succumbed to COVID19 infection in Assam on Tuesday, taking the state’s death toll to 680.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status said: “Very sad and anguished to inform that 13 more COVID positive patients have succumbed to the disease.”

The health minister informed that 2 persons each died of COVID19 infection in Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur, Jorhat and Dhubri district while 1 each patient has died of the infection in Sivasagar, Nalbari, Darrang, Majuli and Kokrajhar districts.

The COVID19 victims have been identified as Dr Ratan Kumar Kotokey (65) and Anuwar Hussain (60) of Dibrugarh; Ralash Hazarika (48) of Sivasagar;  Narayan Dutta (70) and Nandeswar Hajarika (35) of Lakhimpur and Kameshwar Sharma (52) of Nalbari.

The other victims have been identified as Sushil Bhattacharjee (75) of Darrang; Bhumidhar Nath (60) of Majuli; Amir Akbar Khan (75) and Anjali Shil (74) of Jorhat;  Narayan Ch Barman (62) of Kokrajhar; Chitta Ranjan Roy (67) and Amsar Ali (62) of Dhubri.

“My condolences to all the families. We stand by you in this hour of grief,” Sarma said.

Assam so far has registered a total of 1,73,629 COVID19 positive cases.

A total of 1,42,297 patients have recovered from the disease.

With the demise of 13 more patients, Assam currently has 30,649 active cases.
