The second batch of auto-rickshaw drivers from Dimapur left for their home-state Bihar on Sunday, a day after a batch of 30 drivers began their journey.
Till the filing of this report, around 30 persons and their families had registered and underwent medical clearance at Dillai Gate in Dimapur before embarking on the journey.
According to Dimapur District Auto Drivers’ Union president Tito Yeptho, Dimapur has around 11,000 auto-rickshaw drivers from Bihar.
“We requested the auto-rickshaw drivers to stay back, however, they insisted to return to Bihar,” Yeptho said.
“They have decided to leave as the lockdown has left them with no livelihood options,” Yeptho further said.
“Around 4000 auto-rickshaw drivers are expected to leave for Bihar, even though it is difficult to estimate the exact number Yeptho added.
The distance between Nagaland and Bihar is approximately 1207 kilometres.
