In continuation of the drive against hooch after the hooch tragedy has claimed more than one hundred and fifty the Goalpara district administration carried out an operation early on Tuesday morning in several areas in and around Goalpara town and successfully seized and destroyed a sizeable amount of fermented wash.

The operation was carried out in villages like Alangpara, Uloongpara, Dangarpara and Basingpara near Greater Bhalukdubi area under the Goalpara police station.

The entire operation was carried out under the supervision of Sourav Das, assistant commissioner and Neel Kamal Nath, excise inspector of Goalpara Sadar jurisdiction.

In the crackdown, nine numbers of excise cases were detected and total nine hundred forty kilograms of fermented wash were seized along with seven numbers of distilling apparatus.

One Ablong Rabha has been arrested in connection with the recovery of these materials under Section 53 (1) (D) of Assam Excise Act 2018.

Later, the seized fermented wash was destroyed on the spot in presence of the local people.

It maybe mentioned that this is not the first crackdown on the illegal local liquor manufacturer.

On March 1, two similar operations were undertaken in the two tea estates of the district Simlitola and Moijonga.

In the said operations, six numbers of cases were detected and seven hundred ninety kilograms of fermented wash was seized and destroyed.
