United States (US) President Donald Trump agreed to partially restore the country’s funding to the World Health Organization (WHO) despite his bitter fallout with the organization.

As per a Fox News report, the Trump administration has agreed to pay what China currently pays in contributions to the WHO.

The US will “agree to pay up to what China pays in assessed contributions” to the WHO, Fox News reported, quoting from the letter.

“Despite its shortcomings, I believe that the WHO still has tremendous potential, and want to see the WHO live up to this potential, particularly now during this global crisis,” the letter stated.

“That is why I’ve decided the United States will continue to partner and work with the World Health Organization,” it added.

Last month, Trump announced that his administration is halting the nation’s funding to the WHO by claiming that the organization has failed in ‘its basic duty’.

He accused the organization in severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the coronavirus.

Trump also accused the WHO of putting political correctness above saving lives and taking China’s claims about the outbreak at face value.

He also accused WHO of being too “China-centric” in its tackling of the coronavirus pandemic and also termed the organization as a “‘public relations agency” for China
