The All BTC Brahmin Youth Council  (ABBYC) have strongly condemned the barbaric incident of moral policing of a priest at Bortola village under Mukalmua police station in Nalbari district on May 7.

The organisation has demanded an impartial investigation into the matter and said that the guilty should be strictly punished.

ABBYC president Tirtha Ranjan Goswami alleged that the victim was attacked by a group of hooligans comprising 10-15 local youths.

“The victim has been identified as Hiranya Sharma. The attackers charged him of practising black magic,” Goswami added.

“Sarma sustained injuries as he was beaten with bamboo sticks and even his hands were tied up with a rope,” he said.

“Even after several days of the incident and lodging an FIR by the victim, the police have failed to nab the culprits,” he further said.
