Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) B D Mishra has directed the state’s Education department to expedite the procurement of textbooks for Classes I to XII so as to make it available for students as soon as the schools open after the lockdown.

Mishra’s direction came during a meeting with education minister Taba Tedir and education secretary Niharika Rai at Raj Bhavan in Itanagar on Saturday.

The Governor, who reviewed various issues in regards to the strengthening of education sector in the State, also emphasized 100 per cent posting of headmasters in all government schools in the interest of the students and for proper management and supervision of schools.

The Governor further suggested for rationalization of subject teachers’ posting, so that due academic care is taken of the students in all the schools and their studies are not hampered due to the want of teacher.

“All the teachers must partake, as part of their professional commitment, by working in remote schools for the laid down period,” he said.

The Governor also reviewed the progress of school campus development of the Sainik School at Niglok in East Siang.

“For good education of the young students, the environment of the Sainik School campus must be conducive and favourable. Proper planning, appropriate layout of infrastructure, availability of amenities and optimum assimilation of the natural ambience will make the Sainik School an excellent campus,” Mishra said.

The Governor, who has been keenly promoting the development of the Sainik Schools said the young children must be groomed and motivated to become part of the Indian Armed Forces and for this the schools and colleges of the State must take the lead.

Mishra further asked the education secretary to monitor the Sainik School’s infrastructure, its functioning and ensure that quality of work is maintained besides its early completion.

Opening of three new Kendriya Vidyalayas at Daporijo, Hawai and Namsai and construction of school buildings including pre-fabricated structures for the coming batch of 60 students of Sainik School were also discussed on the day.

Earlier, the education minister and secretary briefed the Governor on the progress on various academic issues and challenges faced.
