In less than 12 hours, Assam has registered 3 more Covid-19 positive cases taking the total to 16.

Informing about this, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted at 12.15 am on Thursday that all the new Covid-19 cases are from the state’s Goalpara district.

He also linked the new cases with the Tablighi Jamaat event in Nazimuddin Markaz in Delhi.

Health minister Sarma tweeted: “Alert ~ 3 more #COVID19 positive cases in Goalpara, Assam, taking the total to 16.”

“These three new cases are also of those who joined #TablighiJamaat congregation at #NizamuddinMarkaz,” Sarma added.

Earlier, while addressing a press conference on Wednesday, the state health minister confirmed about four positive Covid-19 cases in the state.

He informed that all those four Coronavirus positive cases were reported at the Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH).

Sarma linked all the four cases directly with the Nizamuddin fiasco.

They were identified as Md. Arsad Ali (19 years) from Nalbari, Md. Joban Ali (46 years) from Jagiroad, Md. Hazrat Ali (60 years) from Jagiroad and Md. Nurrudin (55 years) from Jagiroad.

In the evening, Sarma again tweeted about eight more Covid-19 positive cases in the state.

“All eight new cases are people who had participated in Tablighi Jamat congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz,” Sarma said.

The minister informed that all the new cases are from Golaghat district and their samples were tested in the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH).

The positive cases were identified as Wahida Begum (Dergaon), Anwar Hussain (Dergaon), Aidar Ali (Marangi), Yakub Ali (Merapani), Jesmina Begum (Merapani), Saleha Begum (Merapani) Elina Begum (Marangi) and Ruma Begum (Merapani).

On Tuesday, one 52-year old man from Badarpur in Assam’s Karimganj district tested positive for Covid-19.

He was identified as Jamaluddin from Hassanpur village near Badarpur in Karimganj.
