A distant guiding programme for students began in Mangaldai under the leadership of award winning teacher Pawan Kumar Jha.

The programme has been initiated by the Mangaldai Mahkuma Prathamik Sikshak Sanmilani- the premier body of the primary school teachers of Darrang district.

The programme has been initiated by keeping in mind the future of the students after the schools were closed down in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.

The programme mainly focuses on students’ health and hygiene and studies.

Jha, who is also the president of the body, while speaking to Northeast Now said, “The members of our organization during this lockdown period are trying to be in constant touch with the students via phone and WhatsApp.”

“They have tried to educate the guardians as well as their wards about the importance of keeping themselves in home confinement ,” Jha said.

“They are also trying to impart regular education to the students as well,” Jha added.

“They are providing every possible help and guidance to the students so that the loss of the classes can be made up for,” Jha reiterated.

Earlier, ahead of the lockdown period, Jha and a few other prominent locals carried out a door-to-door sensitisation programme regarding the preventive measures needed to be taken to protect oneself from coronavirus infection.

They distributed soaps , protective masks , leaflets etc. among the locals and pasted a few awareness banners as well.
