Keeping aside all speculations, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to fight the forthcoming BTC polls alone.
The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) lection is scheduled to be held on April 4, 2020.
The BJP took the decision of fighting the BTC polls alone in the four districts of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) on Wednesday despite the fact that the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) is a partner in the coalition government at Dispur.

In a report published on Wednesday, Northeast Now reported that the BJP-BPF seat-sharing equations were not going well ahead of the BTC polls.
The BJP took the decision on BTC polls during an emergency meeting at Goreswar in Baksa district on Wednesday.
Sharing the decision of the party and a few images of organisational meeting at Goreswar, Assam BJP president Ranjeet Kr Dass tweeted: “The BJP party has decided to contest the BTC polls alone.”
The meeting was presided over by Assam BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass.

The meeting was also attended by party leaders and workers from the 40 BTC constituencies of Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, and Udalguri.
Assam irrigation minister (independent charge) Bhabesh Kalita, Mangaldai MP Dilip Saikia, Golakganj MLA Ashwini Rai Sarkar and Assam BJP general secretary Pulak Gohain also attended the meeting.
Several issues regarding the BTC polls were discussed in details and it was resolved that the BJP would contest it alone.
Earlier, BTC chief and BPF president Hagrama Mohillary had claimed that it would share an alliance with the BJP in the BTC polls.
BPF came to power in BTC polls in 2015 for the third term winning 20 out of 40 seats while the BJP could win only one seat in the council polls.
