A day after an opinion poll predicted that BJP-IPFT coalition in Tripura is likely to win 31-37 seats out of the total 60 Assembly constituencies in Tripura throwing out the ruling CPI(M), senior Congress leader Tarun Gogoi admitted that the Congress does “not have bright poll prospects in Tripura right now”.

Following a survey, News X- Jan Ki Baat opinion poll on Tuesday predicted that the ruling CPI(M) may get 23-29 seats while the Congress and other parties may not win any seat in the State.

Former Assam Chief Minister Gogoi on Wednesday tweeted: “We don’t have such bright poll prospects in Tripura right now, but that is no reason why we shouldn’t put up a fight.”

Stating that the BJP has gained ground for being in power at the Centre, Gogoi further commented in his Twitter handle, “The BJP has gained ground because they are ruling at the Centre & this always makes it easy in such a small state.

Hitting out at the BJP, the senior Congress leader further tweeted, “Besides they are pumping in money in the elections,” adding, “Look at the number of aircrafts, choppers, vehicles they are using in Tripura alone.”

Alleging that the saffron party has used black to fight elections, Gogoi stated, “BJP is using the black money they claim to have retrieved in elections, and of course money from big corporates.”

He also attacked the BJP for creating ‘polarisation’.

“Moreover it is important at a time when the BJP has created so much polarisation, divisiveness and tension in the country, it becomes important at such a time to form a secular alliance with whomsoever wants to join,” Gogoi further tweeted.

During his visit to poll-bound Tripura, Gogoi also had a meeting with National Students Union of India (NSUI) national president Fairoz Khan at Agartala on Wednesday.
