The inter institution NSS Camp on ‘Leadership and Personality Development’ organized by Gauhati University NSS Cell concluded on Sunday.
The camp was held in association with Regional Directorate, NSS, NE Region, Guwahati from January 8 to 12 2020 at the University campus in Guwahati.
Around 200 NSS volunteers from Dibrugarh University, Bodoland University, Assam Agriculture University, Asian Institute of Nursing, Tezpur University, Assam Don Bosco University and Gauhati University took part in the camp.
The valedictory programme was held on Sunday at GU PD Seminar Hall.

Inaugurating the programme as chief guest Prof Pratap Jyoti Handique, vice chancellor of Gauhati University spoke to the gathering and thanked all the participants for taking part in the camp.
He said through this type of programme every student is trained for leadership and rounded personality.
He also said that GU is building proper infrastructure like big hostel to organize these types of youth exchange programmes between different universities.
Attending the programme as guest of honour Padmapani Bora, IRS, joint commissioner of Income Tax, Mumbai said in his speech that there is a leader in every one of us and has to play the role of leader either in institutional set up or informal way and urged the students to attain leadership through truthfulness, honesty, hard work, positivity and discipline.
Attending the programme as guest of honour Suresh Kumar, commandant, Frontier HQ BSF Patgaon, Guwahati said youth are the wealth of the nation and through proper training they can be groomed to be good leaders so that they can serve the nation.
Attending the programme Dipak Kumar, regional director, NSS, NE Region said during the five days of the camp the participants learned about leadership through life skills and personality development.
He remembered Swami Vivekananda on the event of National Youth Day and quoted Swamiji who said youth are the most dynamic and vibrant segment of the population.
He urged the youth to be asset to the nation.
He said that youth must have good qualities; good personality and must be skilled and educated.
Delivering the vote of thanks Dr Ranjan Kr Kakati, director, Students’ Welfare and Programme Coordinator, GU NSS Cell thanked all the dignitaries for their valuable advice to the participants.
Dr Kakati also thanked all the participants, NSS Volunteers, Programme Officers and GU Staff for making the Camp a grand success where NSS volunteers were trained in various aspects like peace and nationalism, life skills, personality development, career building etc.
‘National Youth Day’ on account of birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was also celebrated in the said camp.
