An Assam Police constable has been suspended and three home guards have been discharged from service for allegedly collecting money from truckers along the National Highway-37.

The action was taken by the Assam Police authorities after conducting an inquiry into the complaints received by the West Guwahati Police administration about the “illegal activities”.

The four personnel were removed from duty in the West Police district of Guwahati after video footages showed them taking money from trucks moving along the highway.

“Verification of the video footage of July 14 and 24 along with further inquiries revealed the identity of the policemen,” a police spokesperson said.
