A 57-year-old man was trampled to death by wild elephants at Salpara village under the Mendipathar PS in North Garo Hills district of Meghalaya on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Julindro Marak and is the fourth person to be killed by wild elephants in the past one week.
In the first case, wild elephants killed one person at Chilpara village under the Kharkutta Block on December 27, 2019.
Reportedly, the same herd of elephants have been causing extensive damage and on January 1 this herd carried out carnage at Belbari village under the Mendipathar PS.
The herd has damaged a number of houses and killed four persons.
