One of the popular sports journalists of Assam, Purbajyoti Chutia, was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Monday morning.
He was a resident of Xewali Path in the Hatigaon area of Guwahati.
The blood-stained body of Chutia was recovered in front of his house.
But Hatigaon police said there was no mark of attacking by any weapon in his body.
His body was noticed around 7 am on Monday.
Family members said Chutia remained missing since Sunday midnight after he went out to switch on the water pump on the ground floor.
But in the morning, his body was found in the drain of the house, Chutia’s family said.
Chutia’s family has suspected murder of the popular sports journalist.
In the primary investigation, police have observed mark of slips in his knee.
Guwahati-based journalist Purbajyoti Chutia, who earlier served as a sports journalist in various media organisations like ‘Amar Asom’, was working as an assistant editor of Assamese daily, ‘Niyomiya Barta’.
The mysterious death of such a popular scribe has shocked the journalist fraternity of Assam.
