Mizoram’s Vanlalhriatpuii, outclassed Mahi Raghav from Haryana in the inaugural Khelo India School Games.
Khelo India is being hosted at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium Complex in Delhi. Vanlalhriatpuii defeated her opponent in the 57kg class boxing competition.
The Government Mamawii Higher Secondary School student, got a wildcard entry to the event. She lives in the Sports Authority of India hostel in Aizawl after her parents, five years ago.
She was able to easily outclass her opponent, even after regaining her strength slowly from a shoulder injury.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first edition of Khelo India school games on January 31. Sports and Youth Affairs Joint Director, Gumnya Karbak is the chef-de-mission. Khelo India is an initiative of the Government of India for the development of sports.
