The woman was taken to Haryana by one Ashraf Ali on promise of providing job but later sold off to a human trafficking racket.

A woman from Tripura, who had been sold off to a human trafficking racket, was rescued by state police from Haryana on Saturday.

The trafficked woman, who hails from Kumarghat area in Tripura’s Unakoti district, was reportedly taken to Haryana by a man from Guwahati.

She was reportedly taken to Haryana on October 12 by one Ashraf Ali on promise of providing job but later sold off to a human trafficking racket.

Police said Ashraf sold her to one Surbinder Singh in Haryana for Rs 1 lakh.

When she tried to flee from the clutches of Surbinder, she was beaten up badly.

Later she somehow managed to inform her husband on his mobile, who subsequently informed police.

“She was rescued by a team of Tripura police with the help of Haryana police and brought her back on Sunday,” police sources added.

Police arrested Surbinder Singh but Ashraf Ali is still absconding.

Earlier, in August, two tribal girls, who were trafficked from Tripura, were rescued from Haryana.
