A female worker of the Communist Party of India- Marxist (CPI (M)) was injured in Agartala on Monday when the group of silent protesters she was a part of was attacked by the police.
The All India Democratic Women’s Association on Monday called a state-wide protest demonstration against the rising crime against women in Tripura.
“We were protesting by adhering to social distancing norms when police tried to arrest us forcibly,” said CPI (M) leader Jharna Devi.
“Lipika Das- an active member of our organisation- was injured in the scuffle,” Devi added.
A video of the attack has even gone viral on social media.
The video shows Lipika Das being dragged to a bus for denying arrest.
