A total 29 villages of Assam’s Kokrajhar were distributed land certificate of title under Forest Rights Act-2006.
The certificates were distributed at a ceremonial programme held at Banjarmaka ME school ground under Haltugaon forest division in Kokrajhar under two gram sabhas – Dhwrwmpur and Chandrapur.
Mohilary said the BPF has been trying it’s best to give land pattas to indigenous tribal people but the process of survey got stuck as most of the officials have been being pressed in to NRC duty.
He also said the BPF was not only working for the people of BTC area but also recognized forest villages of other districts of the State.
The land pattas distribution programme was also attended by minister Pramila Rani Brahma, Kokrajhar deputy commissioner Partha Pratim Mazumder, project director of ITDP, Bhaskar Manti, Kokrajhar circle officer, Dwipen Barman, additional SP (Security), Rosy Sharma and ex BTC EM Derhasat Basumatary.
Sources from ITDP said 1410 families of 28 villages were distributed land pattas on the occasion.
The villages comprised eight under Dhwrwmpur Gram Sabha and 20 villages under Chandrapur Gram Sabha.
A plantation programme was also held where all guests planted different types of saplings.
The chief of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Hagrama Mohilary, Assam social welfare minister Pramila Rani Brahma, Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Partha Pratim Majumdar attended the programme and distributed the certificates to the claimants.
