A Kolkata-bound Air India flight had to make an emergency landing minutes after taking off from the Kumbhigram Airport at Silchar in south Assam on Wednesday.

The aircraft with 144 passengers on board made the emergency landing after the pilot detected a technical snag.

The flight had taken off from Silchar’s airport around 7:52 am but had to make the emergency landing at 8:13am.

Officials said all the passengers and crew de-boarded from the aircraft safely.

According to Silchar Airport Director PK Gorai the pilot detected the snag along with a hydraulic leak.

“…the pilot…landed the plane back at the Silchar airport. A full emergency was declared at the airport and the flight also suffered landing gear failure,” HT quoted Gorai as saying.
