As many as 10 Afghan citizens, including children have allegedly died in a United States airstrike in Kabul on Sunday, claimed Afghan media.
Meanwhile, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) has said that Sunday’s airstrike was “self-defensive” against a suspected ISIS-K car bomb targeting the Kabul airport.
The airstrike came just a couple of days after a twin bombing by ISIS terrorists near Kabul airport killed nearly 200 people including 13 US military personnel.
The drone strike came hours after US president Joe Biden warned that another terror attack was “highly likely in the next 24-36 hours”.

The youngest of the children to have been killed in the airstrike was a two-year-old girl. This was told by relative of one of the dead to a local CNN journalist.
“All the neighbours tried to help and brought water to put out the fire and I saw that there were five or six people dead. The father of the family and another young boy and there were two children. They were dead. They were in pieces,” Ahad, who said he was a neighbour of the family, told CNN.
Meanwhile, the United States said that it is investigating the media reports claiming civilian lives being lost in the airstrike.
“We are aware of reports of civilian casualties following our strike on a vehicle in Kabul. We are still assessing the results of this strike,” Captain Bill Urban, a Central Command (CENTCOM) spokesperson, said in a statement.
On Monday, at least five rockets were fired toward the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul.
