The United States (US) will buy 500 million COVID-19 vaccines and distribute it in 100 countries. 

These 500 million doses of vaccines would be procured and distributed among 100 countries in a span of two years. 

While, about 200 million doses will be distributed this year, the remaining doses will be distributed next year. 

Reports in Washington Post and New York Times, say that US President Joe Biden will officially announce the huge donation of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine at G7 meeting in Britain this week.

The US has been under pressure to raise vaccination rates in poor countries. 

However, the White House is yet to make an official statement on plans of rolling out 500 million vaccine doses worldwide. 

Before leaving for Britain to attend G7 meeting, US President Joe Biden, when asked about a vaccination strategy for the world, said: “I have one, and I will be announcing it.” 

Biden’s visit to Britain is his first foreign trip after assuming of the President of the United States.

After landing in Britain at the Royal Air Force Mildenhall airbase in Suffolk, Biden addressed the US troops stationed in the base. 

In his address, Biden while praising the allies of US said: “The United States is back!” 

“Democracies of the world are standing together to tackle the toughest challenges and the issues that matter most to our future,” he said.
