India began its campaign at the ICC under-19 cricket world cup on a winning note. 

India defeated South Africa by 45 runs in its opening Group B match at Providence Stadium in Guyana on Saturday. 

India will next take on Ireland in their second match at the ongoing U-19 world cup on January 19. 

Batting first, India set a target of 233 before South Africa.

However, the Indian bowlers delivered early jolts to the Proteas batting line up. 

Wickets at regular intervals ensured South Africa lose the game by a margin of 45 runs. 

For India, Vicky Ostwal returned with five wickets while Raj Bawa scalped four wickets.  

Earlier, skipper Yash Dhull scored a fighting 82 runs off 100 balls as India posted 232 runs on the board.
