India’s badminton star – PV Sindhu will be eyeing her second Olympics medal as she takes on World No 9 China’s He Bingjiao in the bronze medal match in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics on Sunday.
PV Sindhu had lost her semi-final match against Chinese Taipei’s Tai Tzu-Ying on Saturday. She lost the match 21-18, 21-12.
“I’m a bit sad because it’s the semi-finals, but I tried my best. It was just not my day. I fought until the end. It’s sad I couldn’t go to the finals. A lot of people from India have supported me and shown me their love but it just wasn’t my day and I’m going to try again tomorrow,” PV Sindhu told BWF.
“I was prepared for her skills, so I don’t think that troubled me a lot. At the end of the day, the level of the semifinals is going to be really high – you can’t expect easy points. I just couldn’t be on the winning side,” she told BWF.

Meanwhile, India’s men’s hockey team will lock horns with Great Britain in the quarter-final match on Sunday.
India will look to end her 41-year-long wait to book a berth for a semi-final clash. India in the 2016 Rio Olympics had finished last.
However, in boxing, India’s medal hope – Satish Kumar went down 0-5 to reigning world champion Bakhodir Jalolov in the men’s super-heavyweight quarterfinals.
On the other hand, India’s first equestrian in Olympics in the two decades, Fouaad Mirza and his horse ‘Seigneur Medicott’ have been placed 22nd after cross-country round.
